Easy Italian →3.italki — community tutor
When you can follow a Super Easy Italian video without subtitles, book a community tutor for 30-minute conversation lessons. Tell them you only want to talk, that you'll bring the topic, and that they should interrupt every mistake. Book the same tutor twice a week so they learn what you keep getting wrong.

italki Italian tutors →If this doesn't fit you
If you're heading to Italy in six weeks for a vacation, replace steps 1 and 2 with Pimsleur Italian ($21/month). It drills travel-shaped phrases into your mouth and ignores grammar. You'll arrive able to order, ask directions and apologize. You will not be conversational and you'll forget most of it within a year.
Why this path
Italian is the gentlest of the major Romance languages for English speakers — pronunciation maps cleanly to spelling, vocabulary overlaps heavily with formal English, and the rhythm is forgiving. The mistake most learners make is staying in app-tap mode for a year and never speaking. Language Transfer hands you the grammar in a month, Easy Italian piles up the input hours, and italki forces production before perfectionism takes hold. Book the first tutor session at month three whether you feel ready or not.
